Launch of McDonald's Happy Meals for Adults with Toys

With new “boxed meals” for grownups that resemble Happy Meals and even come with toys, McDonald’s is feeding up nostalgia.

The story is being driven by the limited-edition combination meals, which are going on sale today as part of the fast-food chain’s partnership with well-known streetwear brand Cactus Plant Flea Market. They are only available while supplies last.

Why it matters: In order to rekindle “a new generation’s affection for our food and the brand,” McDonald’s claimed it is reinventing the “feeling of pure delight when you ordered a Happy Meal as a youngster” with the Cactus Plant Flea Market Box for adults.

Details: According to McDonald’s, the two separate meals are a Big Mac and 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, both of which include the toy in addition to an order of medium fries and a medium drink.

The box will be offered at dining establishments, in drive-through lanes, via delivery, and on the chain’s app.

Present situation: The meal comes with one of four toys as “a surprise”: Along with a new “Cactus Buddy!” figurine, Grimace, the Hamburglar, and Birdie are three well-known McDonald’s characters.

Yes, but as shown in the images of the toys released by McDonald’s, the iconic figures have undergone a little bit of a makeover and now have four eyes like Cactus Buddy, the happy-go-lucky mascot of Cactus Plant Flea Market.

Prices for adult Happy Meals vary.
The price of the meals will fluctuate, though, since each location will set its own rates, according to McDonald’s.

Backstory: In the past, McDonald’s has collaborated with stars like Travis Scott, BTS, and Mariah Carey to boost restaurant sales and generate publicity for the brand.

In September 2020, McDonald’s debuted The Travis Scott Meal, the company’s first celebrity meal since 1992. This caused ingredient shortages across the country.

A range of items for the collaboration, including tees and a Grimace chair, will be on sale online on Monday at 11 a.m. ET.

Noteworthy: If you order the special meals using the McDonald’s app and have chosen to participate in MyMcDonald’s Rewards, you will automatically be entered to win weekly drawings for “Cactus Plant Flea Market x McDonald’s” merchandise.

No purchase is essential to enter, according to McDonald’s, and entries may also be made at a specific Appstakes website.
